I am new to the grinding your own for the espresso world. I did quite a bit of research and decided to go long (I am usually on the cheaper side). I am glad I did. I use a Breville BCG800XL Smart Grinder and grind straight into the portafilter with my burr grinder, which is very handy. The custom amount adjustment works great and I can grind fine enough to just about max out the pressure and stop the coffee flow.

I cannot imagine any other home machine would be much quieter, given what it is having to do to the coffee beans. I have been using the Breville BCG800XL Smart Grinder for around one month, and will try to update my review after a good breaking in. I make 1-2 cups per day, plus many cups during the first couple of weeks.

Sometimes a product has to break before you know how good it is. That's what happened to me and my Breville BCG800XL Smart Grinder. After about four months of great ground coffee, my smart grinder broke. The wheel that adjusts the grind size became stuck in the middle position. So I sent an email to Breville to tell them about my problem.

Breville BCG800XL Smart Grinder Customer service being what it is today (are you listening Panasonic?), I expected another runaround to get my grinder fixed.

What I got instead was an answer to my email the very next day apologizing for the problem and sending me a prepaid FedEx label with which to send back the broken grinder.

I sent back the grinder right before leaving for a week of vacation. When I got home, a brand new Breville BCG800XL Smart Grinder was waiting for me on my porch. So if the quality of this grinder is not enough to convince you to buy, rest assured that Breville customer service will be there for you if anything goes wrong.
